Freshly remodeled kitchen and dining space ready for holiday hosting in a Houston home

Quick-Turn Remodel Projects You Can Still Finish Before the Holiday

The realistic window we're actually working with

If you're picturing a full whole-home remodel wrapped up before Thanksgiving, we'll be honest with you: that timeline usually isn't realistic starting in late October. But a surprising number of projects genuinely are — and they're often the exact ones that make the biggest difference for a home that's about to host family, holiday parties, and out-of-town guests.

What can realistically be done in 4–8 weeks

  • Powder room refresh — a guest bathroom is one of the most-seen, least-updated rooms in a home before hosting season. A refresh with new vanity, fixtures, and lighting typically takes 2–4 weeks.

  • Kitchen cosmetic refresh — new countertops, cabinet hardware, backsplash, and lighting within the existing layout can often be completed in 4–6 weeks, without the longer timeline of a full layout change.

  • Exterior refresh — stucco touch-ups, fresh paint, and updated exterior lighting for a home that's about to have its curb appeal on full display for holiday guests.

  • Dining space updates — lighting fixtures, paint, and flooring refinishing in a dining area can be completed relatively quickly and make a real visual impact for holiday hosting.

  • Fireplace and mantel updates — a refaced fireplace surround or updated mantel is one of the highest-impact, lowest-disruption projects for the room where families actually gather.

What genuinely can't be rushed, and why we'll tell you that honestly

Structural changes, additions, and full whole-home remodels require permitting and engineering timelines that simply cannot be compressed safely, no matter how motivated everyone is to finish before a specific date. We'd rather tell you clearly that a project isn't realistic on your timeline than rush permitting or cut corners on engineering to hit an arbitrary deadline. That's not the kind of certainty our Concierge Remodel Method™ is built around.

If the timing doesn't work this year, this is actually the right time to plan for next

Late fall is one of the best times to start the design and planning phase for a spring project — cost breakdowns, material selections, and (where needed) permitting can move forward over the winter months, so that construction starts as early in the new year as possible instead of competing with everyone else's spring remodel plans.

What a fast-turn project typically costs

Powder room refreshes typically start around $18,000. A kitchen cosmetic refresh (no layout change) typically starts around $65,000, depending on countertop and cabinetry selections. Exterior refresh projects vary widely based on scope but typically start around $12,000 for paint, lighting, and minor stucco work.
